Through the skylights, daylight reaches premises below. With various opening devices these also work as ventilation, smoke exhaust and exit hatches. Skylights work best on flat roofs tilting less than 1:2, that have a shallow shaft, less than 1,5 m.
Skylights are made of weatherproof and clear plastic materials. The quality system of the company (ISO 9001) focuses on the tightness of the windows and longstanding durability. The intended defect free lifespan is 25 years after which the hatches are typically exchanged for new ones during roof replacement. The old skylights are recyclable.
Keraplast skylights are CE marked according to EN 1873 standard. The skylights have been thoroughly tested in the appointed testing laboratory. Furthermore, the quality control has been arranged according to the standard. A notice of recommended level has been set. The required reference value for U-value in the building regulations is 1,0 W/m²K and the maximum U-value 2,0 W/m²K.
The standard material in skylights is acrylic (PMMA). Keraplast also manufactures skylights out of impact resistant polycarbonate (PC) for such projects, where there is added stress caused for example by traffic or vandalism. Polycarbonate is as a safer material than acrylic, making it more suitable f.ex. to school environments. Skylights are made in dome and pyramid format. Opening geometry being square, rectangular and circle. Colors are clear (standard) opal and smoke.
A skylight with its stand is a compact industrial building element. The characteristics of which – light transmissive, heat and moisture resistant – retain long without service.
Are you about to order or requesting an estimate for a skylight? Should you be renovating we need the U3-measurement for the old skylight and outer measurement of the base (U2-measurement).
With U2- and U3-measurements we are able to determine the right size skylight for you.
U3-measurement
measure from the outer most point, from the drip edge to drip edge.
U2-measurement
is the most important measurement in defining the size of the skylight. Measure this from the base on which the actual skylight will be mounted.
V1-measurement
the inside measurement of the light shaft
